Honest truth, if you're looking for a fun international series, or just a mystery series in general, Tientsin Mystic is absolutely what you need. Netflix is really giving us some wild content at the moment, and I for one am grateful. Because this. THIS.
Whoever wrote the Netflix description was 100% wrong, because the show is NOT about a policeman solving crimes by smoking. Nope. It's about a horrid corpse salvager, who is a bit of a scam artist, working with a rich guy forensic pathologist in 1920s-ish Tienjin to try and fight a cult. As you do. That's the basic summary, but the show itself is just...so well-acted, so fun, and absolutely a worthwhile watch. It's never made clear how much is magic and how much is science, how mythological and how real it is.
And it ended on a goddamn cliffhanger to end all cliffhanger endings.
(seriously guys, watch it)
I've been googling routinely for months to check when s2 is due, and my latest search suggests late 2019.
Which is forever away.
Buuuuuut on the plus side we did get some rad promo art for the pre-production image. Like, this is sick on so many levels. I could cry looking at it. It's so visually AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
I would die for this show, guys. It'll likely be mid-2020 when s2 comes on Netflix. One can only hope it'll be worth the wait.
