In the not so distant future, mankind has ventured forth from the Earth and colonised most of the solar system. One day their asteroid tracking equipment picks up a large fast moving object heading towards Earth, but on closer examination it turns out to be a giant cylindrical space ship which they name "Rama".
What is this ship, what is it's purpose - all these questions and more are set to be answered as a team of astronauts land on the craft and begin to explore it's hidden depths...
Highly Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this book. It's a smooth easy read filled with clever ideas that are explained really well. It's lacking a bit in terms of characterisation, but that doesn't really seem to matter as the rest of the book carries it off.
My only niggle (hence why it gets a 9 not a 10) is that the ending didn't really satisfy me - it was very much a case of "was that it?". But despite this, I'd definitely recommend it.
