Books
I had a little parcel this morning from "the internet store at which we do not
shop" containing a couple of items of interest.
The first is the new and updated Pratchett companion (hmmm, maybe I should have
put this 2nd, Daniel: skip to the next paragraph, you might like it better)
which is basically the same old stuff from PTerry and S.Briggs, but more of it.
It is the first edition to feature William De Worde after his appearance in the
main book line though ! I can tell you from it that the next Discworld novel is
called We Free Men. Useful if you're a Terry fan and not got a copy OR a
completist Terry Fan (I think it's my 3rd copy. I recall owning the original
paperback edition but can't tell you where it is now !), possibly not so if
you're not a fan or a mild one who already has one.
The other book was something I've been trying to get my hands on for the last 15
years: the Hitch Hiker's guide to the Galaxy Radio scripts. Nice intro by
Geoffrey Perkins (2) and DNA one, the obvious scripts of the eps complete with
various sound effects directions and a nice postscript to each episode with
anecdotes about how it came to be, frequently involving large meals. There's
also some nice music listings there too for the stuff used in the series.
Strangely enough a CD with a copy of Lost Planes by Fixx also showed this
morning and I've been looking for that for about the same length of time.
