Reign of Fire and Odyssey 5 (no spoilers)
Well I went to see Reign of Fire on Saturday evening and I have to say I was
impressed. It's actually a pretty good film - relatively decently acted
(well, except for Matthew McConaughey as the main American - I kept wanting
someone to smack him in the face with a lead pipe or a 2x4 or something) and
with a plot that makes relative sense. It did have a few interesting ideas
about English geography but hey, since when is that new for a film? Mind
you, I did almost fall off my chair when I saw Alexander Siddig was in it
(the doctor in DS9 for those of you who don't remember). All in all, a very
good film and I highly recommend that you go and see it.
Odyssey 5 is a new series on Showtime (one of the cable channels over here
along the lines of HBO). It's pretty good - basically, a group of shuttle
astronauts are in space when the Earth is destroyed. A strange alien sends
their consciousness back 5 years in time so they can stop it from happening
again. It's a pretty good series - Peter Weller from Robocop plays the main
guy. Anyway, if it does eventually make it to the UK, try and watch an
episode or two.
