Some of it is quite passable. "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"
is pretty good. And I had read "We Can Remember it for you Wholesale"
before I saw "Total Recall" - and the link between book and film is

really rather paranoid. That's not unusual. I'd certainly
recommend the more adventurous SF reader to dip a toe in the
strange pool of Mr Dick. Possibly by starting with some of his
short stories, which appear in anthologies of SF from the 70s
(before most of you were born, I know.)
And yes, they can be found in the IFIS library, I'm sure.
On the subject of drugged-up, paranoid schizos posting letters in the
dustbin, did you see "A Beautiful Mind"? Not exactly SF, but a good
(if strange) film.
And are you familiar with Wilheim Reich?
