3rd time last night .....

I'm liking this more the more I see it !

In addition to my previous question about how does Amidala know about
Anakin's nightmares about his mother (he mentions it to Obi Wan but not her
....) I've spotted a couple of other bits that might relate to missing
scenes:

Jango Fett has 2 blasters during the start of the fight with Obi Wan. He
drops one of them, but recovers it later on in the fight. What happens to
the other one, didn't see when it disappeared during the fight and it
certainly not there by the time he gets to fight Mace Windu on Genosis
later in the film. BTW The Jango Fett Final Battle figure does feature a
magnetically attached - and detachable - head !

Amidala gets her back ripped open while fighting the Nexu in the Arena -
but at what point does she loose the middle of that costume as I could
swear it's intact at the start of the arena scene.

Other things.... I commented the other day on the similarities between
Clone and Imperial technology - Carrier Ships = Star Destroyers, AT-MT =
ATAT - But I'd not worked out what the Gunships equated to. I have now -
they're the Imperial Shuttle in ROTJ and ESB SE - look at the configuration
of the Gunship's wings, guns and pilot's positions and compare the to the
lower wings, guns and pilot positions on the shuttle. You can also from
this see Shuttles being used to unload ATATs from Star Destroyers to the
Surface.....

The keen eyed might like to look to the middle of the left hand side of the
screen when Anakin & Amidala's ship arrives on Naboo for a certain space
freighter.... There are also Anthony Daniels & Ahmed Best cameos out of
make up in the nightclub and a recognisable droid in the Tatooine street
scenes.

cool!!! i did wonder though, when young Boba picks up his father's
helmet after he has been killed, why doesn't the head fall out of the
helmet. It would have been silly, but that's probably the answer.
who cares, you get to see her midriff, which I enjoyed and i'm sure
others did ;)
I did see Anthony Daniels but missed Ahmed Best. It was rather
obviously Anthony Daniels cos they had a big zoom in on his face.

I still wonder why Palpatine bothers hiding his identity when he is
being Darth Sidious with that hood thing, because you can still see his
chin, and it is a very distinctive cleft chin.

I certainly did, I was more impressed by what she was nearly wearing when
getting out of that boat...

I'll assume you're not taking the p!$$ here ???? I've had other people not
cotton onto this but you're the first person here who's said anything like
that !

Palpatine is Darth Sidious yes.

This isn't 100% obvious first dig and does somewhat rely on the knowledge
that the nice Senator Palpatine becomes evil EMPEROR Palpatine - you had
clocked that Sidious and the Emperor (from ROTJ) are one and the same ?

That then opens out the plot of the first film: Palpatine in his guise as
Sidious engineers the conflict on Naboo in order to further his ambitions
of power. He then orders a clone army on the quiet and gets his sidekick
Count Dooku/Darth Tyrannus to manipulate a rebellion against the Republic,
while at the same time subtly influencing young Anakin Skywalker.

So he's got his position of power, he's got his army, he's got his nice red
guards (look at the back of his office in the opening sequence) All he
needs to do now is kill the remaining Jedi and he's home and dry.....

As a side note I've spent every time I've seen the film when Palpatine pops
up with one of his "the though of anything happening to you m'lady" or "I
love the republic, I love democracy" speeches I just giggle.....

Actually to be fair, I don't believe it was ever
mentioned within RotJ. It's only amongst geekdom -
those who've read the book, bought the figures
or played the game - that know that the Emperors
name is Palpatine.

Actually it's quite fun watching people who aren't
in the know watch the film. My sister suddenly
puzzled it out on the third watching of Phantom
menace. You could see the whole chain of realisation
passing across her face. :-)

nasty Darth Sidious and see that they both have exactly the same cleft chin.
It's fairly obvious.

Yup..... but she seems to know he's been having nightmares before that. I
agree she might have overheard his earlier conversation with Obi Wan when they
were outside her bedroom on Coruscant but the impression I had was that she was
asleep.

Going again on Saturday so I'll be paying close attention to this, the midrift
and the disapearing blasters then.

We await Philip's adjudication on the AOTC possible-continuity-errors with
bated breath.

We also await Spider-Man, which is apparently absolutely littered with them.
(But still allegedly very good.)

and scene deletion. Didn't they have to edit out two whole skyscrapers
from "Spiderman"? From the looks of the early trailers, they did.

necessity. After all, in the trailer it is not a "skyline" issue,
it's more to do with the main character and some bad guys hanging
from two bloody great towers that aren't there (anymore).

disappearing (as in "Eraser") then I guess they're just being
poor. Or rushed. Or short on Twin-Towers-free footage.

(One of the theories that conspiracy theorists could theorise is
that of product placement. Companies pay money to have their
products in films. I wonder if the owners of the Twin Towers paid
to have their building in the scene in the trailer - and if they
did, if they paid to have it in the rest of the film too? If they
did, and between shooting and post-production the towers disappeared,
then this would either lead to re-shooting the film, or to some
odd editorial tricks. Hence my comments.)

continuity errors, but because it's so damn cool!

If you look in the left side of the screen after she is scratched (camera
is looking down), you'll just be able to see some white material floating
away (very brief).

4th time tonight, with some of my era IFIS lot.
Although Amidala may be able to hear what they're saying in the room, the
conversation about the dreams and his mother appears to be on the balcony and
she appears to be asleep at the time. I'll go back and read the novel again to
see how it';s dealt with there.
It appears as though Jango drops both blasters when he's hit by the deflected
blaster bolt, however you only see him drop and retrieve one.

The only definite cut to the film is during this scene where they remove a
headbutt....
Still can't spot this. A slo mo and DVD job I think.
