Quick question...
After watching X-file yesterday, how radiation would Mulder need to be
exposed to before he bistered (as he showed yesterday). I though it was
a serious amount...

I am not a health phycist but; I have always suspected radiation does not
cause blistering like as shown on X-files and Star Trek. I suspect it is
more for effect so the audience realise something horrible is going on.
Radiation will damage tissue that may blister after a few days but that
would be more due to cancers forming. I'll ask a friend of mine this
weekend, he is in charge of Radiation Health and Safety at AWE Aldermaston.
If you see footage of the survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, they are
blistered, but this is heat damage from the super-heated air around them.

Not having seen the episode (I don't watch X-Files much anymore, it's
tedious and boring) I can't say for certain, but if he was microwaved,
he'd blister quite nicely.
In fact during world war II, there were a couple of incidence, where
people wandered in front of radar dishes. With rather messy results.
They eventually managed to work out who the individuals were by the
dental records...
Ofcourse, microwaves aren't what people usually refer to as radiation.
