Last Friday I met up with an old friend who I haven't seen since I
was at school, back in ... oh dear me, it's quite a long time ago.
Anyway, we were chatting, and one of the things he mentioned is his
extensive collection of cult SF on broadcast-quality videotape. One
of the things he got to mentioning was a spinoff of the X-files, a
thing called "Lone Gunmen", which apparently was made as a trailer
and a 13-part series about this time last year.
Unfortunately, the trailer (I gather) featured a plot where some
terrorists hijacked an airliner to crash it into the World Trade
Centre. So the series was buried, and it seems unlikely that
it will ever air in this country.
The questions are these:-
Has anyone heard of this?
Are people interested?
Should I try to secure copies with a private viewing in mind?

I'd heard the Lone Gunmen had been killed off....

I should have thought so.

Yup, the series did indeed air but didn't last terribly long due to the X-Files
no longer being the in thing. I don't think Sky have bothered buying it. I
don't think the characters themselves have been killed off though.
For details see http://www.epguides.com/LoneGunmen/
From what I've read the series was OK, and from the air dates there seem to
indicate nothing WTC connected to it getting canned.

I did watch the first few episodes of it last year, but then it started
moving around in the schedules and became impossible to keep track of. Then
it disappeared completely and I haven't seen anything about it in ages.

Yes, it is all TRUE!
I think they got as far as 13 episodes before it was canned.
The pilot episode does indeed centre around a plot to crash a plane into
the world trade centres.
Oh, BTW, I have a copy in DivX format, but haven't watched it yet to
confirm this all first person. Somehow the thought of sitting in front
of a PC to watch a TV programme leaves me cold...
Dunno if this'll get through since I'm mailing from my work address.

According to the new TV Zone this begins on the Sci Fi channel 01/07/2002.
Want me to tape it ?
They're not going to show the pilot.
