Library and books and stuff...

A few points, all my humble opinions of course:

1) The committee have been very quiet recently, what is the latest on
the library ?
2) Can the treasurer tell us exactly how much we have to spend on books
this year ?
3) When we go and get the books I can recommend a very good 2nd hand
bookshop in Shinfield which has a large selection of Sci-Fi.
4) Shall we start a list of books to buy, on this list or on the web
site?
- Here's a start: Red Mars, Green Mars & Blue Mars, all by Kim Stanley
Robinson.
I don't think the library has copies of these books at present.
5) Phil, stop trolling or I won't tell you who Lorien really is.

which is a list of subscribers which is kept exactly as up to date as
the one that's actually in the mailserver, mostly because it IS the same
one, automatically converted into a web page every time you access it.

Oh, please use ifis-chat in future, not just ifis. Admittedly ifis still
works at the moment, but I do not intend to leave this alias forever, so
it would be good if people could get into the habit ASAP. Cheers.

We have approximately 300 pounds in the social and 75 left in the
theric, so we can probably spend at least 200 on books this year. Don't
work out how to spend it as I am writing this after the pub and haven't
checked with the rest of the committee and there maybe a couple of other
things to pay for.

The Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson is a good trilogy, admittingly
the last (Blue Mars) is a bit long winded and more technical than the
rest.

Is there a place called Shinfield or do you mean Shenfield?

Advice to all... DON'T try to use pound signs in email. Email uses
ASCII, which is AMERICAN, and therefore has no pound sign, so your
mailer will either be sending invalid mail, or performing nasty tricks
that might not work for everyone else on the list.

Yes it does exist and its near Reading, about 30-40mins drive
from Smegham.

The 2nd Bookshop is open every saturday and sunday from 10am to 4pm.
