Talking of Grant Morrison... I was given a load of old Marvel UK stuff
recently, (Transformers, ZOIDS and Action Force{!}) and Morrison contributed
to most of them. And Brian Hitch also did a few issues of Action Force (the
UK "version" of GI Joe). I'm not sure why I'm mentioning that.
Anyway... the younger Magneto. Right at the beginning of Alan Davis' run as
writer, there was this nonsensical convoluted story called The Magneto War,
where it was revealed that the younger Magneto (Joseph) was a clone created
by Magneto's arch-enemy, who wasn't Xavier, and had never been seen before,
but was hugely powerful and knew a lot about the X-Men. She then died
somehow, and Magneto came back, killing Joseph and threatened to destroy the
World, so the UN gave him Genosha. I think.
X-Men went from bad to worse after that before Lobdell came back. Not sure
about Casey and Churchill's stuff but New X-Men is definitely worth getting.

Subject:Re: X-men
I think the first three issues of Morrison and Quitely's stuff sold out
almost straightaway, following Marvel's new policy of burning left over
copies and preventing any re-orders. B*****ds.
:-) Well if you're a remote X-Men fan I recomend picking up E for
Extinction in TPB form
cos it's great. Even Chris liked it and he hates the X-Men - though is
rather fond of
Morrison admitedly. (Chris: I've discovered that GM did some Doctor Who
strips earlier in
his career - want me to dig them out)
Incidentally I've finally worked out what Quitely's art reminded me of -
it's Paul Smith's
stuff for X-Men 165-175 & X-Men/Alpha Flight which I love so much.
Origin 1and 2 are trading for about 40gbp for the pair on eBay.
*NOTHING* has been remotely like this in comics for many, many years.
And issue 1 just
sat for weeks. I've got all 3 thus far and am rather getting into it....
The Origin in question is Wolverine's for those not in the know, focusing
on his childhood
long before the events of Weapon X.... Someone remind me to get a copy of
the Weapon X
tpb when we shop next weekend. As well as the "Time and Relative" DW
novella. And the
Dust Breeding DW CD. And try to find a Luke Jedi POTF2 figure.....
Dunno about Magneto. I thought he was dead.
Then again, that's been said before.
As I said, slagged by the Sentinels in the Genosha massacre in E for
Extinction. Usually
bought back with considerable more fanfare and over a prolonged period of
time than just
showing up.... What happened to the Magneto younger lookalike that was
running around a
few years back ?
