Enterprise episode last night...

Well, after watching the Enterprise episode last night, I want to know what
illegal substances Rick Berman and Brannon Braga are taking - it appears
that they are trying to come up with some new stories (or at least taking
old ones and putting really odd spins on them).

I'm not giving anything away here (at least in comparison to the commercials
for this episode that have been airing in the tv here over the last week)
but the main plot points are:

Alien ship having problems with it's power source
Chief Engineer goes over to ship to help fix it
Chief Engineer meets and is attracted to one of the alien engineers
Chief Engineer sees all sorts of new technology (if you want to know what,
go to the bottom of the email)
Chief Engineer fixes engines and returns to Enterprise
Chief Engineer doesn't feel too great and discovers some odd physical
changes happening
Chief Engineer is pregnant


All fine and good, except for one tiny little detail - the Chief Engineer on
Enterprise is a man. God alone knows what else they're going to come up
with on this season.

The "new" technology that Trip (Chief Engineer) sees on the alien ship - an
amazingly life-like holodeck that condenses photons to create things like
rocks and sand. So my question is, if they found aliens with this
technology way back then, and who were willing to share it, how come we
never saw it on TOS? :D

Probably for the same reason why we don't have playstations up on the
shuttle. They don't have a) the power to go round b) the space to put it c)
a good reason for having it *yet*.

And can you imagine what would happen if Kirk got hold of it? All those
lovely women of risa in one convenient place..........

I understand there's a few computer games on the International Space
Station.
