Finale season has arrived in the US
It's here again - everyone rushing home, desperately trying to get home
before all the season/programme finales air. And then we get into the total
s**t that is summer TV in the US.
Anyway, Voyager finished last night, Buffy and Angel had their season
finales on Tuesday, Charmed finished last week, oh yeah and Monica and
Chandler finally got married in Friends last week.
By programme, here are my thoughts - spoilers are waaaaay down the bottom
Charmed - pretty good, leaves you hanging for the next season. More fun
with the demons and we actually get to see some of hell. I'm not sure what
season it's in over there so I won't say anything else.
Buffy - It sucked - not because it was badly written or anything but the
ending is a.....surprise. Part of the problem, I'm sure, is that Buffy is
apparently leaving TheWB (where it shares Tuesday night with Angel) and is
moving to UPN (Voyager's home and where ST: Enterprise will be). Basically,
a hell god is trying to merge this world and the other world (you find that
out really early on in the season) and you find out exactly who/what Dawn is
(all of which also comes out about half-way through the season). Lots of
fun and games as Buffy and the Scooby gang kick some ass. Oh yeah, and
someone dies - to find out who go to the end of this email but I warn you,
only go if you really, really, really want to know. You have been warned so
don't blame me if you go look and get all upset about it.
Angel - pretty cool ending, Angel's still redeeming himself with the others,
they hop dimensions, kill loads of bad people, get home and get told what
happened in Buffy. Pretty good, no major surprises although the way some
people have to be killed is pretty bad. It's pretty much a two parter so
make sure you watch the two final episodes.
Voyager - ooh look, the last ever episode of Star Trek has time travel in
it. Where have I seen that before? It has the Borg queen in it as well.
Pretty good stuff, although I did feel there was some severe discontinuity
between this episode and the previous one. Do they get home? Go to the end
of the email to find out (but I'm sure you could guess anyway) plus some
other thoughts on it.
I will be going to see Evolution when it comes out over here in a couple of
weeks so I'll let you know what I think of it.

OK, I hope that's enough!
Buffy - she's dead. She died, Dawn lives. It sucked. So there you go, the
only surviving member of the Summer's family is Dawn, who isn't real and was
made out of Buffy's DNA anyway. Gravestone was pretty cool - Buffy Ann
Summers 1981 - 2001. Beloved friend. She saved the world a lot. I'll let
you know what's going on with whether or not it is moving to UPN and how
that will work.
Voyager - surprise, surprise, they get home. Although it's nice knowing
they do, sometimes I wish Trek didn't always go for the happy endings. The
Borg queen was good and nasty and the older, time-traveling Janeway was good
- cynical and just wanting to get them home early 'cause people died in the
remaining 16 years or so it took them to get home. Oh yeah, and Chakotay
and Seven Of Nine are dating. Tom and B'Elanna have their child as well -
just as Voyager got back to the Delta quadrant. It was pretty good for
Voyager although I was slightly surprised to see that they had time-travel
in another last episode of Star Trek. I'm not sure it was worth two hours
though.
