I'm not sure when this is being released in the UK, but I went to see it on Friday night and it is fantastic - the CGI is brilliant (just like the first one), the plot is pretty good and the kid is likeable. Of course, Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are good as are the supporting chast and it's nice to have a sequel that has the majority of the cast from the original in it. Anyway, it's very good and I heartily recommend it - although let me know what you think of the route they take from the British Museum to Tower Bridge (weirdest route through London I've ever seen).

On a slightly different note, the only advertising I've seen for AI over here are the trailers in the cinemas (which are very weird and only make sense on the second or third viewing).

PotA - seen little more than the teaser posters in the local cinema. A
postcard fell out of a DVD my sister bought the other week, but I forget

I went to see it last night and I was very impressed. If that's what CGI
armies look like these days then I can't wait to see Lord of the Rings.

I also think I can explain the Tower Bridge problem. According to the
opening shot of London, Tower Bridge was by the Houses of Parliament in the
1930s. This came as news to me and I can only assume they spent a fortune to
move it to where it is now.

I came in at the end of the trailers so I can't comment on the A.I. trailer,
although I did see one that caught my eye. Directed by the guy who did
Ghostbusters, starring David Duchovny and looks a bit like Men in Black. I
can remember virtually everything about it except the name of the film.
Someone help me out here please...

Mostly you'll find they're cheating - they only have to render a few 100
models and then scatter them about randomly to make it look like there are

looks nice - especially the bomb's eye view as it falls on a boat - but I

I liked the film too, although the daughter/wife reincarnation continutity
error had be confused for a bit.

Bit disappointed with the amount of airtime the Rock got too - I got the
impression from the pre-release interviews etc, that he was actually in it. *P)
I don't think the 10 or so minutes (the bit at the end was purely CGI AFAICT)
at the start really counts as "being in the film" enough. Still, he was
very good at beating the crippen out of people and yelling loudly.

Sure, I expected that. In fact they've probably got low detail models for
the background to speed up the rendering. Still looks impressive though...

Oh, I thought I recognised him, but I couldn't be sure. Bit of an odd choice

Now, now, remember we're talking about the one occasion that the US got a
bomb dropped on them during the war, so of course it's really, really
important (to them). Plus, it's the US and of course there was no-one else
in the WWII but them (don't mind me, I'm getting sick of the Yanks
dismissing the fighting that the British and Australian forces did).

Actually the US got bombed and torpedoed several times, Just after
America entered the war the US ignored British Intelligence reports about
German U-boats massing just of the East coast of the US, withdrawing
American naval vessels from that area, guess what, they lost a dozens of
ships in view of the coast US coast(Turkey shoot). (Maybe that was why they
want to claim credit for cracking Enigma so that they can say it was not
already cracked before they left the Eastern Seaboard open to attack, thus
British intelligence could not have told them weeks in advance what was
about to happen, so it was not American incompetence that allowed it to
happen.)
Also the Japanese discovered air currents that went across the pacific to
America. They Hung Bombs under balloons and let them float across on the air
currents. Some of these got reasonably deep into the US mainland and
exploded. They lost a dozen people but the US government felt it would
create a panic if they warned anyone. Most of the casualties were caused by
bombs that failed to explode initially being set of by people who had no
idea what they were touching them, then they exploded.
The Japanese also occupied and begun fighting there way up the Alaskan
Island chain (though Alaska may not count as a part of the USA as it was
still a territory at that time, not a state (Hawaii was also not a state)

people said I needed a history degree and an Archaeology degree was not
suitable so that was a non starter of an idea.
