Science Fiction:
Frederic Brown, From These Ashes. There appears to be a heart-warming
resurgence of interest in 'Golden Age' SF (see Schmitz below) and this
latest publication is a complete collection of all Brown's short
fiction from 1941-1965. In this post-Internet age it is too easy to
forget how important the early writers were and how ahead of the game,
but books like this are an essential reminder. US hardcover, #25.00.
David Gerrold, Bouncing Off the Moon. A Sci-Fi writer's Sci-Fi writer,
Orson Scott Card said of Gerrold's previous book Jumping Off the
Planet 'If there's not a sequel to...I'm going to be so %@$$~ off!'.
Well lucky for Mr C. (and us) here it is. A classic tale which has
drawn many comparisons to Heinlein, it tells of three boys who have
divorced their bickering parents, only to find themselves pursued by
an avaricious mega-corporation across the Lunar landscape. Their only
