As Lizz pointed out, you apparently need to control your language on
IFIS mailing-lists. Some of our members have their email sent via
corporate mail-filters that get upset at any mention of things like "big
ti+$" and possibly "$h@". Don't even think about mentionning the
F-word!
Of course, it's all those bloody interfering old ex-students again ;-)
For a few examples of other words to avoid, try looking at "rude words
that were removed from scrabble dictionaries":

True, although I managed to receive both copies of Lizz' email. We sit
behind a Mailsweeper box here which can filter out obscenities. This feature
is not currently enabled, but having a look through the profanity list was
good for a laugh. The default config file is available at
http://www.mimesweeper.com/download/extras/profanity_lists.asp, (with
English, German, Spanish, and French variants :-)).

Actually, if it's a recent development it's probably me. We've
migrated to Exchange (why doesn't the filter catch that swear word?)
here and every day now sucks in new and special ways.
I noticed that some mails where silently failing and logged a complaint
with IS. Now mails with rude words fail loudly. Isn't it great having
a responsive and well oiled IS department!
If it annoys people vastly, let me know and I'll set up an alternative
webmail account.
Cheers,
Adam

You're the one who bounced the recent mentions of big ti+$, yes, but
bracknell-forest have been known to bounce on really petty things too,
and I think cellnet, and somewhere else I've forgotten too. I'm getting
quite used to it.

Don't worry about it. Not worth the effort. The bounces usually come to
me, and I usually tell the poster that their post hasn't got through to
a couple of members, but I think Dom said something like "Oh, it won't
exactly ruin Adam's day missing one email from me" :-)
