AGM/Exstudents
Since I have just spent what seems ages going reading stuff on the IFIS AGM
from ex-students soooo I thought I'd have my say as I spend rather alot of my
time at the pub with the students.
As was previously said it is a Student society so in my opinon should be run by
the students as it is supposed to be for students. Yes by all means let them
run it, but at least hope that they may ask advice off the ex-students
espcially as IFIS is one of the few RHBNC societies to have a good relationship
with us. I think that the current committee does this and I hope that it will
continue. For those with short memories a few years ago the society student
members held an EGM to get rid of the then current committee which was mainly
ex-students including me, even though I was kept on for a while as I had an
honoury position. Please don't let this squabble about voting and who should
run the society keep going on or otherwise the students will get fed up of us
oldies and we will be made unwelcome which would be a great shame.
Life membership of the Union has always meant to me that I could join scoieties
and use the Union facilties and not much else. It means that if a band plays
there that I want to go and see, I can. It means that if I want to I can go and
meet up with students at the union without all the faf of having to arrange
someone to sign me in. It does also (even though I probably won't again for a
while) allow me to go to GMs at the Union to listen to what is going on and if
I have an opinion about something to get speaking rights to let me have my say.
At the last GM I went to recently there was a spod there who I remember from my
time at the College (about a decade ago) who was at his 106th GM and still
speaking at them, but he still feels that he has something to give the college.
End of rant.
See those who are going at the AGM where as per usual I will be giving my all
to IFIS...as much as I can get away with...
