Well I've been enjoying Dungeons and Dragons on the Cartoon Network in the
evenings, but it doesn't look half as good as the trailer I just saw for D&D
the movie. I emphasise LOOKS good. They only had about two lines of dialogue
in the trailer, and they lead me to suspect that the script is going to be
utter pants. But the Dragons do look good...

D&D (the movie) is good if you're looking for a film that is entertaining
and not looking for a meaningful film with the best plot, script, acting etc
ever. It's enjoyable, the special effects are fantastic and the dragons
look great. I enjoyed it and the Brits in it are pretty good too.

Hello all,
I've just been to see the new Dungeons and Dragons movie and I thought I
might give you my considered opinion of it. However, I will NOT be giving
you any spoilers or plot details since I know a number of you are planning
to see it in the next few days and I don't wish to spoil it for any of you.
Basically the effects are excellent all round, with convincing Dragons,
gribbly monsters and weird contraptions and traps as well as good spells and
things.
The battle sequences are all very good, and very dramatic.
There are plenty of orcs, goblins, dwarves, elves and miscellaneous other
lovely creatures, all represented very well.
The acting is on the whole good. Jeremy Irons suitably overplays his role
as the evil dark mage, Justin Whalin is good as the thief and the rest of
the cast all put in sterling performances. I'll give special mention to
Richard O Brien who is splendidly camp and amusing in his role as the head
of the Theives Guild. Oh and Tom Baker's good in his one scene too.
Althougth the plot isn't excellent, not likely to win any literary awards
and slightly confusing at times, it still presents a rip roaring adventure
that is VASTLY entertaining.
So there, that's my two pence worth, Dungeons and Dragons is one to see,
simply because it is bloody good fun and enormously entertaining. So go see
it!
Oh and there's Jeremy Irons' Papa Lazarou impersonation in the opening scene
where he thinks he has control over a dragon. "You are mine now!" spoken
in exactly the same voice :)
Also, while there we caught the trailers of the Lord of the Rings, The Mummy
Returns and Final Fantasy, all of which look great and I'm looking forward
to immensely.
