New in this week:

this third book of the Riftwar Legacy the 'Tear of the Gods', the most
powerful artefact known to the temples of Midkemia, has been lost at
sea. Squire James , William, and Jezhara the court magician race
against time and evil forces to locate the all powerful jewel.

Darwin's Blade by Dan Simmons. Darwin Minor is an expert in accident
reconstruction who's life is carefully arranged to emotional
involvement in his work, but when a series of seemingly random high
speed car accidents occur everything changes. The accidents seem
staged but the participants have all died. The deeper Darwin digs the
more deadly enemies he seems to make, but Darwin has some deadly
resources of his own from a time in his life that he thought he left
behind. If he wants to save himself- and untold others- he must reopen
a dark door into his past. Available in US hardcover for #18.50.
From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz. Bartholomew Lampion is
blinded at the age of three, when surgeons reluctantly remove his eyes
to save him from a fast spreading cancer, but although eyeless, Barty
regains his sight when he is thirteen. This sudden ascent from
darkness into light is not brought about by the hands of a holy healer
or announced by celestial trumpets. A rollercoaster has something to
do with his recovery, as does a seagull. And you can't discount the
importance of Marty's desire to make his mother proud of him before
she dies. The first time she died was the day Marty was born:January
