There's no sensible way to write about this one so...he's Robert
Jordan, the book's called Winter's Heart, it is as usual
back-breakingly huge, costs #17.99, and you've either been counting
the days till it's release or you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Another along similar lines as the above is Marion Zimmer Bradley,
Priestess of Avalon. Sadly for her fans though due to her passing in
September this is the last. Fortunately, the publishers say this was
intended to be the final volume in the series begun with Mists of
Avalon, and it is fitting that her best known work is her last. Uk
hard cover, #16.99.
A third much awaited author this week is Terry Pratchett who brings us
his 25th Discworld novel, The Truth, which concerns itself with the
introduction of print journalism to the world. His achievement is
quite remarkable, particularly as he has managed to maintain his style
and excellent writing over his long career and this latest continues
that tradition.
A Saucer of Loneliness is the 7th volume in the complete stories of
Theodore Sturgeon, and as it stops at 1953 there are probably a lot
more to come. US, hard cover, #20.99.
New in paperback are:
Terry Pratchett, The Fifth Elephant, UK, #5.99.
George R.R. Martin and Lisa Tuttle, Windhaven, UK, #6.99.
Christopher Stasheff, Wizard and a Warlord, US, #6.99.
Joe Haldeman, Forever, US, #6.99.
Diana Wynne Jones, Hexwood, UK, #4.99.
Fred Saberhagen, Arms of Hercules, US, #12.99.
Sorry, no Romance or True Crime this week.
Oh, don't be sorry! :-)
# = UK Pounds Sterling, by the way.
