Okay everyone, I will admit it now before everyone else starts about it. I
kissed Chris Lyth at the Thursday Pub Meet on Nov 2nd, but it was only a
half second peck.

Anyway, it's all Phil Woolger's fault for betting me 20 quid that I
wouldn't, and in the end both Chris and I ended up with 7.50.

OK, there, it's out in the open, and I will NOT be taking it up as a hobby,
it was for a bet, and it was one of the most unpleasant things I have ever
done!

on the lips and one of the least pleasant things I have done. On the plus

using the corridor along the left hand side of Williamson as track, bouncing
the trolley off the door. Trolley hit door, door falls off hinges.
Trolley is then hidden, student sobered up and put into bed and door put
back on frame. Italian bloke in Williamson 14 comes home, puts key in lock,
turns it and door falls in. Authorities called. Williamson 13 resident
denies all knowledge based on he's been in his room with Star Trek up loud -
backed up by Williamson 12 resident. I believe spare hinges were scrounged
from the middle of the Loo doors down stairs - can someone check this for us
? - and used to reatach the door.

Forget shopping trolleys - two hall luggage trolleys were used for jousting
on a Cameron balcony on at least one occasion in my time. And everyone
involved was sober (which is probably why no one fell over the parapet).

If these are the things I'm thinking of by my time there were few of them
and all under lock and key at Athlone reception...... Unless you're
insinuating some sort of raid to obtain them in the first place ?

I'm trying to remember how we I mean the unnamed Williamson residents got
the trolley in the first place. I _think_ it might have been used to
transport a number of roadside accessories - both of the yellow flashing and
red conical variety - up Egham Hill one night. I know there was a cupboard
full of them at one stage - until the lights were all used to decorate the
big tree in the Athlone car park at Christmas. We had yellow flashing
lights up there for weeks - until the batteries ran out. I suspect the
rusted remains are still there.

As a side issue for student road accessory related hijinks - one of my
colleagues was nicked by the Egham law loading cones into the boot of his
car one night !

Other door/drink/trolley/road accessory/wot we did when I was a lad stories
welcome......

thought it was better out than in.

Well, I've certainly never come across any use for the appendix.
Like Nick said, conventional wisdom would have it that it a remnant of the
time we all walked around on 4 legs and ate grass. Quite a lot of biomass is
actually indigestable to humans (and indeed to many carnivores and
omnivores) because we cannot synthesize the necessary enzymes. At some
point, the appendix was an organ producing these enzymes, but has now
atrophied to the extend where it just sits there and does nothing. However,
it still has a duct into the small intestine, which can be blocked. Should
this happen, it can burst, and having a hole in your duodenum is not a good
plan... Tissue necrosis, anyone?
