So how is the clear-up going after that mong flooded the list? More to the point, when will the list become moderated no longer? I am receiving replies time-stamped before the original message and it is getting most confusing.

Oh yes and Alex, how long before I'm chucked off the list for not paying my membership fee? :-)

Rumbled for the rest of us ;-) Most ex students on the list haven't paid
their fee's in a long while.

In theory we aught to be leveling consultancy charges at the society for the
benefit of our experience.

Hey! That's not fair! Every one (I believe) who actually turns up to
films or xmas dinners, (or even just the pub - "free house / public
house") is delighted to pay. It's only a few distant people, unable to
visit very often to pay their membership, who enjoy clogging up the
mailing-lists free of charge ;-)

films or xmas dinners, (or even just the pub - "free house / public
house") is delighted to pay. It's only a few distant people, unable to
visit very often to pay their membership, who enjoy clogging up the
mailing-lists free of charge ;-)

I got my Union Life Membership card a year and a half ago now and have paid
up both years. At least I should have - I left this year's in the hands of
C Lyth so you never can be sure.....

On the other hand I did pay up last year but didn't always get a mag ....

How to get copies of the mag (was Moderation)

All of last years' mags are available on the website - minus a few bits of
artwork that Chris L shouldn't have put in them in the first place. *P)

I resent that, I've regularly offered to pay, and that offer still stands,
its just that no-one has taken me up on it.

Sorry, it was a cheap joke aimed at phil, who I knew would take it as a
joke. It wasn't supposed to be taken seriously, either by phil or by
anyone else.

If you ever come to see any of the films, or take part in any other IFIS
events, I imagine the committee would be delighted to take a few quid
off you. If you just want to use the mailing-lists for free, then I
personally, speaking as information superhypewayman, don't mind at all,
and I seriously doubt any of the committee mind either.

Please re-read my email as the joke it was intended to be, and also
please note that ";-)" is supposed to look like a winking face (tilt
your head to the left if you've been living in a cave and have really
never seen these before).

any more?

Worst of all, I can't see what's making it do this.... Unless it's your
"X-pmrqc: 1" header - is this a Pegasus Mail "feature"? It's broken.

I'll add it to the list of headers that need to be stripped. :-(

P-mail is regularly broken. In fact, even when its 'working' it tends
to do bizzarre (sp?) things like this. My apologies to all. It probably
has something to do with the university network going down in
spectactular fashion a few days ago and the (I use the phrase
laughingly) "IT support staff" not having a clue how to restore
service. Please God could they get someone; a) competant and b)
concietious in to whip this place into shape.

now I can't say fairer than that guvnor :)

No, replies are going via the same moderation process. You should still
be recieving everything in about the right order, and certainly replies
should never be arriving before the original posts.

Anyway... We have plenty of evidence to show that the attack was
launched by a customer of NTL cable internet, via a web proxy at their
guildford exchange. This evidence has been handed to the NTL abuse team.
Despite me giving accurate dates, times, IP addresses, and URLs, NTL
have asked for further logs from the people running the lists, who have
been very bad at responding.

Moderation... I was intending to FAIRLY SOON set up a process whereby
member's posts go straight through, non-members posts go to me for
approval. To cut a long story short, I've not had much time to do this,
because I've been too busy chasing the various abuse teams... oh, and
WORKING of course!
