IFIS lists are obviously open, insofar as
anybody in the world can post to them, simply by putting the relevant e-mail
address in the box. I think, to qualify as unauthorised access, the list
would have to have restrictions on postings, which it doesn't.
Wouldn't affect me personally either way. I have IFIS posts sent to my
college account, because it's easier just to load MS Exchange/Outlook than
go through IE. I could see, however, that having to use a certain account to
post with could get irritating. Not only that, but we're not all students
here, and hence don't have a college e-mail account.
Saw an advert on the telly yesterday for Virgin trains. "Smart people travel
by Virgin Trains", or words to that effect. Hmmm... The only reasonably
effective train service I know of that runs in this country is the Eurostar,
and even then that can get a littlr hairy.
