Veni, Vidi, Visa
Or We Came, We Saw, We Did a bit of Shopping (name the film this was used as
a slogan for and tell me why 21 of the stars are considerably richer this
week)
Today was rather fun. Kicked off at They Walk Among Us in Richmond
followed by their Smiths and HMV (Total Haul: a Willow action figure, a
Buffy S3pt1 Box Set and a Dangermouse Video). Starting line up of myself,
Jenny, Chris T and Adam. The team then gathers reinforcements at BK
Waterloo - inc Nickwa, Alex & Andy Wren - and got our Photos taking in the
Tardis style tunnelling. If you haven't seen it do take a look.
Off via the Northern line to FP. However en route from Tottenham Ct Road
tube to FP we spotted B-Hive and paid them a visit. Rather nice line in
toys - Sean: They had the SNPP playset (in try me packaging ! Oooh, Donuts
!) and mighty fine it is too - and a basement with Comics. As you're coming
out of the TCR entrance by Centerpoint go up New Oxford st and look to your
right at the first Traffic Lights (Mental Note to redo Map)
FP was the emptiest I've ever seen it on a Saturday. Sadly it was no good
either and all we came away with was a Lexx tape and a couple of posters.
We binned Gosh from the route this time and headed down Charring Cross road
to Orcs Nest (where much role playing equipment was bought) and then to
Murder One and Comic's Showcase.
We then split into 2 teams - one to search the bookshops and head to a RPG
place in Museum Street. Nick, Andy and I set off in search of Patric - who
according to him was in FP's basement but we couldn't find him.
A visit to HMV resulted in much damage to many Credit Cards. Painful for
some people later I feel. Chris did become the 2nd IFIS member to buy the
Chorlton and the Wheelies video so that's OK....
Patric and I then headed off to Tower via Hamleys and a rather nice Ice
Cream place on Regent Street - I recommend the Black Forest gateau flavour,
while Patric went for the Rum and Raisin !
More Credit Card damage in Tower, at which point my feet signalled their
intention to take no further part in proceedings and I retreated homewards.
So - even as we speak - I expect there are IFIS members in a bar in
Westminster trying to work out how to explain how they've spent. Thanks to
everyone for coming and I assume we'll all be out again in November. Third
Stage by Boston is a dam fine album, and seems to be doing the trick at
silencing the awful jungle the kid next door is playing. If that doesn't
work Heat of the Moment by Asia will get bought into play....
Anyhow.... A Brief "For Sale" notice. For the SW Fan IFIS member I've got
a number of items up for grabs:
E1 R2 D2
E1 Mace Windu
FF Luke Bespin (Canadian)
FF Leia Endor (Canadian)
FF Rebel Hoth Trooper (Canadian)
Flashback Chewbacca (Canadian)
Mos Espa Encounter Cinema Scene (JarJar, Anakin and Sebulba)
Cantina Aliens Cinema Scene
Jedi Spirits Cinema Scene (Blue Minty Gell 3 Pack)
If anyone's interested I can do a considerably sub retail deal on them.....
