According to the DTI's annual report _Home Accident Surveillance System_
in which admission figures from a selection of UK hospitals are
extrapolated to give an estimate for the country as a whole there were
1777 accidents involving tree trunks in 1998. This is more than the
total for chainsaws of a mere 1289.
Other highlights include:
Armchairs - 18690
Vegetables - 12363
Trousers - 5137 (an alarming increase from the 1996 figure
of 4440)
Printed Magazines - 3242
Sponges & loofahs - 996
Tea Cosies - 20
Ok so not massivley SF, but still stimulates the brain to figure out
what people were doing to cause these.
