(yeah, right!). Some idiot calling himself 'the high evolutionary' had
turned every mutant into a normal human and then let Mr Sinister sieze
control of his gene tranformer. Mr S. is now planning to experiment on
everyone on the planet and there is no one who can stop him. And Wolverine
is dying from adamantium poisoning.
The fall of the X-Men as a comic book _probably_ happened when Marvel
started milking it for all the titles they could - at one pt there were 8
monthly titles (Uncanny XMen, XMen, XFactor, XForce, XMan, GenerationX,
Wolverine and Cable) which is a bit OTT.

It's no longer about making good stories, it's just about squeezing every
penny they can out of us. The best x comic at the moment is 'Bishop - the
last x man' which is separated from the main x universe.
Instead of trying to recapture past glories, the x range should model
themselves on DC's JLA comic, brilliant storylines, laughs without going
overboard and real drama. Brilliant.
