OK I know this is a tad pointless, but the subject of SF crossover space
battles has come up- in order to make comparisons more straightforward I
have put up some stats here (using my own judgement- please argue)- scores
are arbitary & relative, out of 10, except for damage which is out of 1000.
Explanation of stats:
Attack- the amount of damage done in a successful attack, 10 is sufficient
to destroy a planet;
Defense- the ability to avoid getting damaged, through armour/shields & ECM;
Damage- the amount of damage the ship can take before being utterly
destroyed (to some extent this is just a measure of how much mass the thing
contains);
Speed- in space it's acceleration that counts, but most SF seems to ignore
Mr Newtons work- imagine it as the velocity achievable if all the fuel is
burned;
Agility- the capacity to make quick turns & other manouvers, this is a
function of the thrust available, the deign of the ship, and inverse to the
ships mass. Again most SF depicts spacecraft turning & swooping as if there
were an airflow to push against... Babylon 5 being a pleasing exception.
Range: just what kind of distances can the thing cover 1-2 is orbital 7-9
interstella, 10 denotes no effective limit to the distance reached.
Stealth: self explanitary really.
