Jeff and Marty

Alright then everyone, to take us off of this stuff about Luke vs. The Crow
thing, who saw the new Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) on Saturday? And what
did anyone think?

Personally I really enjoyed it. The effects are superb in my opinion, I
especially liked the way Hopkirk materialised and dematerialised, much
better than when he just used to disappear (perhaps this is heresy, I don't
care).

Reeves and Mortimer are also both really good as the 2 leads and although
there is humour, it doesn't intrude into the plot and Emilia Fox (drool
drool!!!) is also good as Jeannie, I loved it when she kicked Charles Dance
in the face.

The ending was also great although if you have'nt seen it yet I won't tell
you what it was...

However, their irritating receptionist with the silly accent did annoy me.

The rest was good though and I can't wait till next week's. Tom Baker as
Professor Wyvern!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!! I saw a bit of him in it on his This Is
Your Life on Saturday and he looks like he'll be really good and TOTALLY MAD
(which is why we love him really!!!)

BBC trying.

Personally, I rather liked the way that they kept "almost" killing
Hopkirk. I made it 3.
That appealed to my twisted sense of humour I'm afraid.

I gather that they used a company that usually works on high-budget films.
They were between contracts, and hence came unusually cheap. So the effects
should be stunning throughout.

Total loss of realism in this scene. If someone's smashing your fiancee's
head into the scenery, you don't start having a conversation with them, even
if it is amusing. No. You use your magical spinning levitation powers and
kick them in the head FIRST.
It was an old MG, wasn't it? They're not THAT expensive. The clothes are
another matter.
Yes, that was amusing.
Not too good at straight acting, but fair. There seemed to be a lack of real
appreciation for danger. Comedy fear, rather than fear.

In summary, I liked it. I'll reserve opinion until after a couple of "real"
ones, rather than the scene-setting first episode. Unfortunately, I'm not
that impressed with the choice of lead actors. I suspect that's to draw in
viewers. Compare and contrast with "Jeeves and Wooster" where Fry & Laurie
fit in marvelously.

Hmm. My neighbour's lodger drives one. She works in a garden centre.
Can be done then. (And it was a posh restaurant.)
They were of an ilk with "The Avengers". Humour present, but not
overpowering. Acting probably not that great either. All in all, I'd say
probably much like the new one, although more understated.

True, but the old ones had a tendency to be unintentionally HILARIOUS. I
remember the one where Jeff Randall got into a fight with a gang of nasty
robbers and got punched in the face. In the next scene he had a great big
black eye but in the following one he was having a telephone conversation
and it had disappeared!!!! To make matters worse, in the following scene, it
came back again!!!

The Secretary

Dear All,
Just like to say that I agree with the various people who like
the new show. On the whole it has a good cast, is well-acted and plotted and
the special effects are great.

The guy playing the ghost is a little loud however. The new Jeff, a quiet
sensitive type, is a nice variation on the original and Emilia Fox is
definite 'lust object du jour' material as the new Jeannie. The funniest bit
in that episode was when they were spying on Charles Dance and got caught. I
loved it when Dance was smashing Marty's head into the car and the dialogue
between Dance and Fox sparkled.

The only criticism I have to make is that at times the pacing was a little
dodgy and it looks like the ghost will save the day every week. Mind you he
did that in the original series.
