SW: Dark Tide 1
Further to last night's mail....
As with all Stackpole books I polished Onslaught off on the day I started it -
very good.
The SW writers have gone to the trouble of producing a threat - hinted at in
Visions of the Future and revealed in Vector Prime - that is about as alien as
can be. They've also done the bio technology thing really well in this case -
ships, weapons and equipment - everything they use is all grown - in fact a
hatred for machinery appears to be part of the races psyche. Interesting
concept.....
It's also interesting to come back to the SW Universe and watch the development
of "peaceful" govenment with trends and concepts introduced in previous books
coming to the fore. Setting a book 20 years after the films portrays a world
quite diffrent from the one we're familiar with yet you know it is that world -
I had a similar feeling when reading B5's Dark Genesis and watching their
portrayal of the pre Psi Corp world...
