Is the age of critical comment gone ?
Now that I think of it...
Did anyone watch the Farscape episode where he was "first contact" with a
bunch of roughly human-level aliens, and talked to a female astronomer in a
hillbilly sort of environment?
In a blatant attack of Star-Trekitis she was able to understand him
perfectly. I seem to recall that he's had some sort of language injection
into his head, but she hasn't.
Did they goof?

There are two things you need to know for a full and happy life:
1) Never tell anyone everything you know.
2)

I've heard various rumours, which I will list as follows:
1) It's a goof. They leave it be.
2) It's a goof that they later flange into plot - nobody's ever explained
where the translator bacteria come from, maybe indigenous to that planet,
harvested by nasty peacekeepers - hence natives dislike of aliens?
3) It's deliberate, same as above.
4) It's deliberate for as yet unexplained reasons.
It's the only real gaff that i've noticed in the series so far, and they
havent always solved it by using a subspace doohickey on the plasma
manifold. For a "season 1" of a brand new sci-fi show, it's been remarkably
good, in fact.
