I like Farscape. It be a bit of a rehash of the basic ideas
behind Blakes 7 and Buck Rogers, but it's a well done rehash...
Very true, and you're not the only person I've heard say that.
Blakes 7 really was good - it wasn't just hazy memories.
Yes, although the sets were perhaps a little more wobbly than I remembered.
Jenna leaned on the control panel and almost knocked it off.
Now another generation of impressionable young women can swoon at Paul
Darrow - thinking girl's crumpet, and role model for sarcastic bastards
everywhere. My Hero.
To be fair though, the bad guys get a fair bit of sarcasm in their lines
too. "Your men were running around the ship looking for someone to surrender
too." - excellent.
Stargate
When it's actually on. They left it half way though a two
parter and then
didn't show the next part the following week. I hope it's not another
season finale, because that would annoy me somewhat...
Naa. It was simply a blatant excuse for a Flashback episode, with a plot so
unbelievably weak I just didn't, er, believe it. I live with a couple of
Stargate fanatics, and they're starting to infect me.
I should have said new material.
Yeah, well you've got Satelite. Buffy's new to me.
Why arn't people talking about them - beyond so and so is on
at such and such a time ?
Is the age of critical comment gone ?
It seems to have. The
IFIS writing list is full of people posting their work
to uninterested silence.
X-Files - too bogged down in it's own mythology ?
Oops. I forgot about this one entirely.
Maybe we should have a web page of SF on TV schedules? Listing times, series
numbers, and synopsis of missed episodes? (Where not available on the web -
like the excellent Buffy site that fills me in when I miss one.) It sounds
like a non-trivial amount of work, so it'd require several people to produce
the information and many others to actually use it. Would people find it
useful?
Well most of the current series (shown on BBC1 not Sky) hasn't been
plot-arc related at all
No, and they've been great. That's a series I'd pretty well given up on,
before accidentally catching a few recently, and being really impressed.
Getting Sky one does make a massive difference. You know that
they aren't going to reschedule the show in order to show
highlights of the annual kitten cross country skiing olympics.
Actually, I'd like to see that.
Do they do ski jumping as well?
Go on - imagine it. You know you want to.
(O/T: Did anyone catch the ladies slalom at the weekend? It had the most
amazing tumble I've ever seen. The poor woman somersaulted through the air.
She hobbled off afterwards, so she's probably reasonably ok, but wow!)
Whilst the cast add eye candy, it's the tight scripting that brings
you back to Buffy.
Indeed. It's a generally excellent show. I don't watch it because of the
cute cast (although they are). If I wanted to watch cute cast without a care
for content I'd be a Baywatch fan. I found somebody over the weekend
(female) who's actually been put off Buffy because she'd heard that people
only watched it for the totty content. I endeavoured to put her right
immediately. (Besides, my vote would have to go to Farscape on that score
due to the presence of Aeryn, but hey, I like 'em scary, so maybe that's
just me.)
