Lone gunman series - X-Files stuff

Probably old news, but hey.
Apparantly, things are looking more certain that a spin-off X-Files series
based on the lone gunmen and their exploits. Whether this is going to
involve skulking around dodgy air bases and watching for UFO's remains to be
seen.

Meanwhile, the X-files series is in limbo, and a series 8 is looking
increasingly doubtful, as fans get bored with the long-running alien
abduction conspiracy.

Does anyone think there is anything else that they can do to the Alien
conspiracy thread, which they haven't already done? I mean, I'm just sitting
here *hoping* that they start wholescale colonization, just because I'm
bored with the thread.

increasingly doubtful, as fans get bored with the long-running alien
abduction conspiracy.

Actually, I've seen a couple of the current crop on BBC, and been pleasantly
surprised. The ones I saw were fairly unrelated to the long-running plots,
and were self-contained and entertaining.

I think the tangled web of alien abduction/government conspiracy stuff was
getting far too involved for its own good, and I can understand their
boredom with it.

Actually, I've seen a couple of the current crop on BBC, and been

Yeah some of the more recent stuff has been pretty original and well
written. However,
once you get to watch Two Fathers/One Son, you're left with a feeling of
"What now?",
and who the bad guys actually are.

They've tried killing or removing most of the main cast several times
(Mulder on his numerous disappearances, Cancer Man, Skinner, Scully's been
abducted and almost turned into a human gestation pod at one stage) so
what's left to do? I just wish the aliens would bloody get on with
re-colonising earth and be done with it. Lets face it, they could nip down
anytime, and take over, and there's absolutely bugger all that Mulder and
Scully could do about it. It's not like "The Conspirators" can do much to
stop it, seeing as much most of them got barbequed alive in One Son.

any suggestions on where the X-Files writers could take the conspiracy
thread, now that "The Conspirators" have been roasted alive, and everyone
knows what the plot was and what they were trying to do?
