Virus Problem
Sorry for the apparrent abuse of the IFIS announce list.
No, this is not one of those hoax virus announcements.
An IFIS member (I'm pretty sure) has a virus on their machine. It keeps
attempting to send mail to IFIS chat and announce lists (presumably in your
address book) and luckily it's not managing to get through YET because it's
faking mail from various other addresses that are not IFIS members. This is
also why I can't mail the victim personally, and I'm having to send this
announcement to all IFIS members.
The person with the virus has a freeserve dialup account, is probably running
windows and Outlook or Outlook Express, and probably knows most of the
following people - either directly or through mailing-lists and things:

R.Holmes <R.Holmes@>
funnymoney.10 <funnymoney.10@>
alex.whincup <alex.whincup@> (although we can probably all guess who
this is)
If you think this might be you please go offline IMMEDIATELY to stop sending
any more virusses out to people (you can bet they're not ALL going to IFIS
lists!), then get yourself some up-to-date virus software - not "jan 2002", I
mean REALLY up-to-date, install it, and clean your system up.
The problem of how to GET some up-to-date anti-virus software if you've just
taken your machine offline is obviously more tricky. Borrow a university
machine or a friend's one or something - if you've still got any friends after
sending them multiple copies of a virus, that is ;-)
If you're not sure whether this is you or not, please take this opportunity to
upgrade your anti-virus software anyway. Lack of antivirus software, or old
antivirus software, is really foolish. "old" means anything more than about a
week old :-/
