We're getting fired soon. It's very sad.
Yes, the IFIS GM is coming up and we need a new committee! If you are
interested in manning the helm of probably the oldest, most active
non-sporting society on campus, or know someone who does, then please make
your nominations at www.ifis.org.uk/society/nominations/ . It's
a small web form which will take you, ooh, the best part of twenty seconds
to complete, and you are allowed to nominate yourself.
A little info on the committee positions:
Chairbeing: The chap/chapette who makes decisions, oversees general running
of things, and stands at the front of the film saying "Pub", and
occasionally "flan". Inane vocalisations may vary. Also ultimately decides
what film will be shown.
Secretary: Does general clerical things like keeping a record of our
members, signing them in et cetera.
Treasurer: Deals with matters of money and cashflow and stuff.
Librarian: You'll undoubtedly be astonished to discover that this person
deals with the IFIS Library, our library that has loads and loads of
fantastic sci-fi/fantasy/horror/"miscellaneous" books. Traditionally the
Librarian mans the library for two hours on Wednesday afternoons in Times
Square. Also orders new books and things.
Publicity Officer: My job. And a lovely one it is too. You get to
dazzle/wow/annoy the campus with the creativity/wit of your posters, and
make ridiculously long announcements just like this one.
That's happening on the last Thursday of this month - that is, Thursday 28th
February. Further announcements will be made nearer the time. So, plenty of
time until then for you to get your nominations in folks, to
www.ifis.org.uk/society/nominations/ . If you have any further
