Oh yes! (Film news)
To those of you who are Pratchett fans (my there are a lot of you); to those
of you who are Gaiman fans (there are other colours but black, you know);
and to those of you who are Gilliam fans (you strange people)...
| The Internet has been awash with rumours of Terry Gilliam's next project and
| now it seems there's official confirmation thanks to Coming Attractions.
|
| The ex-Monty Pythoner has been confirmed to direct Neil Gaiman (pictured)
| and Terry Pratchett's novel 'Good Omens'. The book follows the story of two
| friends who try to avert the prophesised Armageddon, by making sure the
| newly born Antichrist is diverted from his home at the American Embassy to
| the little known English town of Tadfield, where he grows up to be a bit of
| a scruff.
|
| Neil Gaiman reported in November on NextPlanetOver.com, where he has his own
| message board, that the project was 'in the hands of the perfect director.
| Terry Pratchett and I are both on the sidelines, and are keeping our fingers
| crossed.'
|
| Ain't-it-cool-news then went on to claim that Gilliam was that 'perfect
| director', to which Gaiman's response was 'Re: Terry Gilliam. Um, I can
| neither confirm nor deny that'.
|
| Just days after that Gaiman had a change of heart and after discussing it
| with the producers, revealed that as the rumour was out there they might as
| well confirm it. Gilliam will now work on a script with Tony Grisoni, before
| directing the project.
That should be good. :-)
