So did anyone else watch Farscape last night then?
The BBC's new Sci-Fi thingy.
Imagine Buck Rogers joining the crew of Blakes-7 and meeting the muppets.
It's not dreadful, although bits of it came close. I'm willing to give it a
bit of a go, but then I was perversely attracted to that woman in the black
body armour. It's always dangerous to judge a series by the scene-setting
first episode, so I'll try and make an effort to watch the next two before
reaching any conclusions. The science bit looked dodgy, and the big
warrior-chap was generally poor, but you've got to expect a bit of cobblers
in these things.

What exactly was this? Did the Beeb advertise it much? Was that
a stupid question in hindsight?

I'm afraid I turned it off after 5 minutes as I couldn't
take any more cliches. Maybe I'll give it another try next
week. Still at least the Simpsons was anew (to BBC) episode.
Cheers,
Paul.

What exactly was this?
It was a brand-new Sci-Fi thing early evenings on BBC. Human cast with Jim
Henson puppet creatures for non-humanoid aliens.
Did the Beeb advertise it much? Was that
a stupid question in hindsight?
No, and Yes.
I'm afraid I turned it off after 5 minutes as I couldn't
take any more cliches.
Most of the cliches were packed into the first 5 minutes. It got better. I'd
say the quality of acting was on a par with Star Trek, and the scriptwriting
is about Blakes-7 level.
I can post a synopsis if people want one.
thats despite the fact we put a website up for it
yesterday.
You're not advertising it yet though.

Did anyone video it? I missed it as I was on my way to Lec A to play
AD&D! I saw the adverts twice and thought it looked good!!

I videoed it, but if you want to borrow my copy, you'll have to wait for me
to finish with it (which will be a while because I'm quite far behind on
video) and Chris T who asked first. By then, there will already have been 2
more episodes, probably ;-)

I video'd it. I was planning on watching it tonight. Your welcome
to borrow it. I'll give the vid to Steve Dismukes tonight, so
grab it off him tomorrow or something.
See ya,

Well apart from Stef mentioning it on the shopping trip I'd not known
about it - thats despite the fact we put a website up for it yesterday.
But then I never take a look at new websites.

I wasn't too impressed with the trailers, so I didn't bother to switch on.
Anyway, it would mean I'd have to fight for the right to change channel on
the telly in the common room. I was also going to Gamesoc, which put the
final nail in the coffin.
On the other hand, it sounds like I didn't miss much...
Ron (or "Bobbin" as those of you who went shopping on Saturday will know)
PS: "Buffy" night? This Thursday? ARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I'd rather stay in my
room and write an essay, and that's really saying something!

Speaking as someone who has seen the entire series (minus the last four
episodes as the Sci-Fi channel is waiting to show them next year) I can tell
you that it gets better and I really like it.

You're lucky in that you get to watch the series in order. The first
episode I saw was somewhere in the middle of the series and had to wait a
couple of months for the repeats. I have to say it makes a lot more sense
now than it did at first.
