Egham
Bar 163's good and it seems to have reasonable prices at the moment.
errrrrr it's stylish but maybe a *bit* small considering the number of
people we may have in there :o)
Jaspers is okay, but fairly bland (does have the advantage of something
for everyone). Their prices seem to have jumped recently, but I'm
sure they'll have some kind of a deal for Xmas.
they do normally have a set-meal for xmas, although from what I remember
it's about 15 quid, not exactly budget price, and I don't remember there
being much grub for the money either. they do have the added bonus of doing
a private disco session for all everyone to embarrass themselves at
afterwards (AndyWren, I hope you've destroyed those negatives........)
Chiquitos should probably be mentioned, and then discarded for being
extortionate. Very good cocktails though.
bearing in mind the number of students involved, the extortionate price
probably works against it's favour.
Don Beni's. Actually Englefield green. Superlative food, at very good
prices. You would need to book soon.
closer to campus for all methinks, and no bloody great hill for most
students to climb up afterwards...... and hey, if you don't finish your
pizza, they'll whack it into a takeaway box for you!!!!!!
Staines
Pizza Express. They do good pizza and wine, but very little else. Not
really a christmas venue, but probably worth mentioning on a list of
where to eat in the area as it's fairly cheap.
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm my instinct is, if we go for pizza, we may as well do Don
Beni's, it's pretty much closer for everyone to get to.....
Staines Steak House. Fabulous steak. Very little in vegetarian options.
oh damn! the disappointment..........
MEAT...........
NEED DEAD FLESH.....
Rio Grande. Used to be a pub, down by Staines station. A Tex-Mex theme
restaurant. Great atomosphere probably helped by the cocktails. A little
pricy but the food is very good.
hmmmmmmm handy being next to the rail station, possibly a bit more
accessable than most places. I'd be interested certainly...........
I don't really know what's good in Ashford or Windsor. Hopefully someone
else can give you some help there.
we can probably rule out ashford, it's the middle of bloody nowhere and the
trains have a habit of not stopping there (I know someone who lives there)
I would suggest using scoot (www.scoot.co.uk), to get the phone numbers
for all the restaurants, get quotes and then make your mind up.
how about Villa Rosa in Egham?
or Caffe Uno?
The Blue Sky?
Pipers chippy? (a long shot......)
Or Jacks Chippy? (hmmmmm may have problems with seating.......)
or one of the millions of garfunkels steak houses in the west end??????????
Now would most certainly be the time to get a move on, although please bear
in mind that a lot of people will have work's dinners around 10th december
time, so perhaps another date is prefereable. can't please them all, I
know........
