Well, having seen A Call to Arms now, I have to say I'm not impressed. I don't know whether it was let down by the script, music, or battle effects, but I believe it was probably all three.
One of the best examples of the bad scripting was just after Sheridan 'borrowed' the Excalibur.
Sheridan: "Set course for..."
Long dramatic pause, followed by flashback to an event that only happened ten minutes ago.
Sheridan: "Set course for Daltron 7."
The music was at best iritating, and at worst intrusive. They might as well have got Chas and Dave to do the music for the battle scenes for all the tension that was created.
The final battle fx seemed somewhat rushed. The defence fleet had been on screen for about ten seconds before the Drakh assault bagan. Waves of Drakh all moved as single entities rather than as individual ships. The supporting Earthforce ships were poorly used, and God alone knows what the Alliance ships were there for as I don't think they fired a single shot. Oh yes, and the bridge crew of the Victory were jumping away from explosions like extras from an A-Team episode.
It was still better than Thirdspace though.
