B5: A Call to Arms vs STV: Dark Frontier
Busy eveing last night - not only did B5: A Call To Arms get released on
video yesterday, but so did Star Trek Voyager: Dark Frontier. I watched
them back to back last night .....
A Call to Arms is the B5/Crusade linking story - introducing the plot, the
hardware and some of the cast for Crusade.
Dark Frontier is the long awaited reunion between Voyager and the Borg.
Far be it for me to suggest that one was released to spoil the other ;-)
No I would never do such a thing. But I do note that V:DF is a regular
Voyager release with the cover turned round to make it appear something
special... And that the Borg's plan in pt2 did seem a little familiar from
some where else ....
Anyway I had a fine evening watching the pair of them.

I seen both@
Call to Arms is probably the lamest of the story lines of the B5 films
so far released, but it was much
better than either the Crusader series (which is ST:V in another form)
or Dark Frontier which had so many
bits of techno-babble in there it makes you wonder why the Febs didn't
kick Borg arse ages ago.
And yes, they did share very similar plot lines - but at the moment
B5:C/ST:V are somewhat similar in their
make up.
My last bitch is with the BBC, with so many un-release Dr Who vid's, why
do they bother releasing stuff.
The Terror of the Zygons (a much more complex plot line than either the
two other videos) was relases
years ago.

Speaking of one being released to spoil the other, the Rental release of
B5:CTA was meant to have been last week (rental releases are generally
earlier than retail) but it was postponed at the last minute until
yesterday... this would have meant they came out same day for rental (I
would have had a busy night too), had the rental suppliers not completely
failed to ship voyager on time as well... Oh well... I'll catch that one
one day...
now for a bit of warning just in case...
B5: Call to Arms SPOILERS
I actually quite liked it, bar the seriously ropey incidental music... Not
least because sheridan tried his usual approach (blow shit up), managed to
miss entirely, somebody else does it for him, gets the target and still
completely fails to save the planet. Quality!
