By the end of 3 Anakin must have fallen to the darkside, had his dual with
Ben, been injured and rebuilt as Darth Vader
(SW fan rumour has for many years linked this with a dual on a Volcano and
Vader falling in...)
Before then he some how manages to father the twins..... Ben takes Luke to
Tatooine, and Bail Organa
(_NOT_ Antiles as they said by accident in the film - Antilles is a
Corellian name) takes Leia and Amidala to Alderaan
(You know Leia can remember he mother from the conversation she and Luke
had outside the Ewok village in ROTJ)
The name is a big enough clue as it is - but possibly you could get by by
not having Vader as such appearing:
3 ends with Ben having "killed" Anakin, and leaving it at that.
ANH starts with having DV stride out of onto the Tantive IV and that's the
first time you see the black armour.......
But that's about the only way you can get away with it.
As I see it 3 would end with all the pieces in place for now :
Palpatine declares himself Emperor - he already has got himself to the pt
where he's head of the Senate by
(as Darth Siduous) by engineering the Trade Federation/Naboo conflict and
taking advantage of it.
Anakin falls to the Dark Side and is rebuilt as Vader - Palpatine/Siduous
needs a replacement apprentice and
has already noticed Anakin ("We will follow your progress with intrest
young Skywalker"
Ben flees with Luke, Leia on Alderaan, Yoda hiding on Degobah and the rest
of the Jedi slain...
