First, a reminder - there is *NO* video tonight (Thurs 20th Nov).
Instead, we have the Star Wars Special Edition Widescreen Surround Sound

Then on SATURDAY 22nd Nov, there's THE LONDON TRIP.
**********************************************************
* THE DETAILS HAVE CHANGED SLIGHTLY, SO PAY ATTENTION! *
**********************************************************
We meet round about 11am at Egham Station, and buy London Travelcards.
We WILL be catching the 11:20am train, so if you don't get there AND buy
your ticket in time, we WILL leave you behind and you'll have to try to
catch up with us later.
First stop will be RICHMOND, where we will be meeting our "expert" Phil
at 11:40 at Richmond Station, and visiting a nice sci-fi & comic shop
hidden down a little alleyway where you'd least expect it.
We'll probably leave richmond round about 12:30-12:45, and get to
Waterloo a bit before 1pm, where we might catch up with anyone else.
Waterloo is a big place, so if we need to meet anybody, it'll probably
be in that area where everybody stands gawping at the arrivals board?
1pm would also probably be a good time to eat lunch, and there are
various burger, pizza, and sandwich places around, so we'll see what
people feel like eating at the time.
After that, we're intending to visit Forbidden Planet, Gosh Comics,
Comic Showcase, Murder One, and probably the Virgin Megastore and HMV.
Anyone know if "Olley's Secondhand Bookshop" near Liverpool St is still
open? What about "Alien War" in the troc - that closed, didn't it?
Otherwise if we have time and if anyone can think of any other shops or
exhibitions that we ought to go to, we'll try them.
Then off to the excellent sci-fi pub Page's Bar near St James' Park in
the evening - a different "expert" tells us that you must get to Page's
before 6pm if you want a seat for the rest of the evening, so we'll be
aiming to get there fairly soon after the shops start shutting. It's NOT
party night, so you DON'T have to pay on the door, and most importantly,
there SHOULD be lots of the excellent videos. Final plug:

PLEASE make a note of my mobile number - if you woke up late and want to
catch up with us, or if you get lost and want to rejoin us, I should
have the phone switched on all day. It's Orange, which is cheaper for
you to call than most of the other networks. EVEN IF you know you're
going to meet us on time and never get lost, PLEASE make a note just in
case. Trust me, I'm speaking as someone who's organised this kind of
thing before.
(private address hidden)
Anyone who can afford a travelcard is welcome on this trip, and will
almost certainly enjoy it. Of course it also helps if you've got copious
ammounts of money to spend on sci-fi books, toys, comics, videos,
posters, etc, oh, and lunch, and drinks in the bar, but this time of
year, with this term's grants running out, we WILL understand if you
just want to come along and laugh at OTHER PEOPLE spending copious
ammounts of money! :-)
See you in the pub tonight, the video evening tomorrow, and/or 11am Sat
at Egham Station!
