London Trip
RIGHT! I've been horribly busy trying to leave my job, but amongst all
of that, I've also been trying to organise the mythical LONDON TRIP!
I have called the sci-fi pub, and basically it looks like the best date
for it would be SAT 22nd NOV, otherwise we get caught up in "party
night" which is actually less fun than it sounds. Most people (out of
those who responded) told me they were OK for both of the last 2
weekends in november, so this ought to be OK...
More details closer to the time, but essentially, the plan is...
A few "experts" and loads of other members meet up at Egham station at
some fairly sensible hour of the morning, and buy a London Travelcard
each. The Star Wars Tripple Bill is planned for the night beforehand -
the 21st, so obviously we can't start TOO early. We'll be fair. Shall we
say 11am sharp, or will that leave us with too little time?
We then go into london, and the "experts" spend most of the day showing
everyone else where all the decent sci-fi shops are in london. We all
(optionally) spend far too much of our pitiful wages or even more
pitiful grant cheques buying comics, figurines, toys, books, or whatever
other sci-fi related stuff you can think of. If anyone knows any
suitable exhibitions or anything, we'll try to find time for them too -
I understand "Alien War" has closed down, but if anyone can think of
anything else that's relevant, ideas will be welcome.
In the evening, we make our way to Page's Bar, where we quaff romulan
ale and watch highly amusing videos with a hundred or so like-minded
sci-fi fans. In the unlikely event that you STILL haven't read my
review, see http://www.noseynick.org/IFIS/art-pages.html
All in all, a fun time will be had by all.
If you're interested, please mail me. Remember that I *DO* need an
expert or 2, because I don't actually know many of the shops myself. If
we can get enough people together, I might be able to book the train
tickets in advance and get a bulk discount - I believe you need 10
people. Also if you DO let me know you're going, we JUST MIGHT consider
waiting for you at the station rather than leaving at 11am sharp, but no
promises. If you know of any suitable shops, exhibitions, or whatever,
let me know about them too.
Live Long And Prosper!
