Right, this is a wierd one, and I apologise in advance.

I was flicking through this week's Radio Times (incidentally this week's Red
Dwarf is another multi-parter) and stumbled across a program called 'The Red
Shoe Diaries'. Now I am unfamiliar with this series, but it is apparently
one of these dodgy soft porn shows that Channel 5 like to fill late night
slots with. But why is this relevant? I hear some of you ask. Well, this
week's stars none other than David Duchovny. Interested parties should tune
in to Channel 5 at 10:50 tonight, but remember, you didn't hear it from me.

It's my understanding that he is the presenter of the series, as aposed to
actually getting involved in any of the episodes. I think they have just
cashed in on his X-files fame.

Though I must admit that I've never actually seen an episode.

I thought that this was one of those things that he did before the X-files
(although he could have done it just before X-files started)

Sorry, that's what I meant, i.e. the producers/distributors/Channel 5 are
cashing in on the fact that he is a big name, even though he isn't actually
in any of the episodes (only presented them, before he was famous).
