What does everyone have against Janeway?
Finally, in a male dominated world (and series), we get a decent female role
model and all you blokes can do is rip the piss out of her and think up new,
more ingenious methods of disposing of our Kathryn!
At least she doesn't go around flirting with every member of the opposite
sex onboard (like a certain Starfleet captain otherwise known as James T
Kirk!)
I agree with you on the Tribbles. The Klingon-Tribble situation after 'The
Trouble With Tribbles' would have made quite a nice episode! It would have
been interesting to see how the Klingons coped! Hey, do you think that is
the situation that Worf does not want to talk about (from Trials and
Tribble-ations)!!
Anyway...

She is a crap captain. Nothing to do with the fact she is a women. Like I
have been saying if seven of nine was captain they would get home no
problem.
I saw the mutiny episode when they have a mutiny in the holodeck - they
should have an episode where there is a real mutiny. I can't believe the
crew haven't already.

What is the oposite of a Klingon? A small fluffy fir ball that purrs alot.
No wander they hate them. I don't know how the klingons got on - they
probably did something cowardly like nuke planet tribble. But there could be
something in Worfs evasion of the subject, maybe the tribbles did beat the
Klingons.

Of course the tribbles beat the Kilingons! There may not be much room for a
brain along with all those reproductive organs, but it doesn't take much
intelligence to beat Klingons - just persistence and a lot of purring.
Does anyone know what Klingons think of cats?

It says in the headers of your email that you are "Perkins A".
Anyone who hits "reply" to your messages will probably automatically
have the line "Perkins A said" added to the top of their message, just
like I've just done.

I resent that! I'm a GIRL and i still don't like Janeway. OK< she might
count as a role model, but she's still fundamentally unlikeable. I'm still
voting for the Tribbles!

PS Speaking about role models, what about Major Kira?

Janeaway as a role model - what a scary thought.
Mr Bester - Now that's a decent role model.
Works for me anyway ;-)

I think that Mr Morden would make a better role model. OK, so he's dead.

It is good to have a female leader in male predominated crew, but they could
have tried harder with her character. She is the most stereotyped captain
in any Star Trek series so far. This just makes the series even more
sexist. Almost all the characters are male anyway. They have just put in
another token female - that's what I have against Janeway.

Nah. It's sexist cos they feel they have to have an attractive female in
a tight fitting uniform (Kes/7of9) to keep the male audiences interested.
Not that I'm complaining of course *8).

Yeah, but a woman with a cornish pastie on her forehead isn't so appealing

I didn't say none of the characters were female - just most of them -
Chakotay (however it's spelt), Tom, Harry, Neelix, the Doctor, Tuvok and
most of the extras.

Obviously when you thanked us for ending the Janeway debate, it was
far too far in advance.:o)
Anyway in response to someone's comment about women with
cornish pasties on their heads.
Better a cornish pasty than a hairstyle that is probably
concealing a small branch of WHSmiths.
Plus re the title of this email, her voice is far too manly to be
a heroine.
