Quick aside to nick requesting this be put on chat, hotmail be removed, and
clyth@ send stuff here as well. Thanx
Anyway, to be relevant to the list, That episode of sliders was true shite.
For those who wanted to know how they could get home, Rickman had a timer
which had been programmed with the co-ordinates of what they assumed to be
Earth Prime. The thing I wanted to know was how were they supposed to have
gone to the future? Same time and all that jazz in the credits. Ho hum, never
expect anything from sliders and you won't be disappointed.
Voyager. Harrumph. I got to see the much hyped Scorpion over Christmas, Given
the cliffhanger, that wasn't bad, but it deteriorated into a Janeway knows
best (That's why we're still in the wrong quadrant) diaatribe.
Plus if these ships could take down a borg cube in 1 shot, how come voyager
survived being hit 3 times at least.
As for the following episodes, wow 3 episodes, 3 shuttles, this is approaching
the record. Even assuming they have shuttle building facilities, to build a
shuttle takes components, energy and everything the ship is short of.
And as for shuttle design, we are supposed to accept that if the shuttle's
structural integity field drops, the shuttle will explode. Does this look like
good engineering to you? If the shuttle simply runs out of power for one of
the many reasons that they come up with, the thing will explode. Hmm, I think
not.
Babylon 5- I haven't seen all of the final 5 yet, but the 2 I have seen are
strangely lifeless after the momentum they had been building until they
stopped for 6 months. I did notice however that it appears Londo has already
found the way round the watcher.
As for the deconstruction article, he made some valid points but the flaws in
his argument have all been pounced on by others. Suffice to say, I like both
B5 and Trek. (Yes I do even with my often expressed reservations about
Voyager)
My major problem with Voyager is twofold.
1. The big plot. While watching an episode in which they say there is a way
home, you know the ending from the start. They will fail often because of the
principle of problem 2.
2. Janeway. The Trek series all revolve around the central figures of the
captains. Janeway has not got the stage presence to support this. Her voice
may be manlier than Picard's, but she cannot cut the mustard. Her principles
change according to what is least convenient for returning. She should die
horribly.
Oh yes I just remembered, The gift, when Kes left in the shuttle, even after
the mind meld with Tuvok, the ship was buckling around them, the hull was
buckling when she was in the central corridors, the electrics were blowing out
around them. She then piloted the shuttle to a safe distance. HOW??!! The
bloody thing would have exploded. They aren't that well built.
Anyway I must go now.
