as I can only make it by ~10.30.

It seems a shame if these *are* planned for this term. You will not get
a repeat of the amazing sound and screen system shown over this weekend. If
IFIS can schedule showing Star Wars next year, when they get released on
DVD, with (hopefully) even more extra bits, then Richard could do another
Star Wars triple bill.

*But* I understand that the effort in setting up this system is something he
cannot do again this term, Also, he is unhappy at showing the exact same
videos as last year. So no great sound system and projector unless you can
all wait until next term.

Cos the new film won't be out till may and putting the Special Editon back
out will encourage the hype surrounding ep1, and take advantage of it at the
same time.

It's a hooray because there's a new film coming out, not because of
its disgustingly late release date! (boo!)
But anyway, I thought only America gets it before us. The rest of
Europe gets it later, I would have thought because they have to translate it
all into different languages. And I don't know about anywhere else in the
world, I'm sure we get it before places like Mongolia!!!
I do see your point, though, why can't films be released everywhere
at once? They're starting to do it with computer games, so why not films?

I was recently told by a friend that one of the main reasons that the rest of
the world gets films after America is because we get their reels after they've
finished with them. Given that each films' reels cost 10s of thousands of pounds
this kind of makes sense although it's still annoying.

They already do it, actually. For example, in France Tomorrow Never
Dies went out 2 days before its American release ; because in France movies
go out on wednesdays whereas in the US they go out on Fridays. (!)
