Shopping Trip Story & Sci Fi Mart
Well.....
Most of the party managed to meet Chris Lyth at Egham - Magus, Jenny,
Isabel, Ali, Charlotte, William, Steve Dismukes, Chris White & Tal "Big
Dave" Lyth. The only casualty was Ads who didn't show.
They proceeded to Richmond where they met me, we headed to They Walk Amoung
Us where the spending begun. It was on the way back to the Station when
Tal's buggy exploded. An attempt to find all the pieces was made but we
ended up lashing the bits back together with insulating tape !
John Hart was waiting for us at Waterloo where upon we decided to have lunch
at BK. I broke my diet by eating the biggest Burger that BK would serve,
with extras.... It was while leaving BK that we misplaced the book Jenny had
bought. A party was sent back to BK to find it. It was only when we made
it to the Northern Line platform that we realised Mr Dismukes had not
returned from the attempt to hunt down the book. Another search party was
dispatched to find Steve while the rest of us went off to FP to start the
shopping in earnest.
Half an hour later Jenny rings Patric up asking for directions from Murder
One to FP cos they've got that far but aren't sure how to get the rest of
the way. And somewhere along the line we picked up Chris Lyth's clone twin
brother. It was at FP that the most damage was done to people's bank
accounts (Charlotte ? Patric ? care to admit how much ?) I found several
people to talk to about Star Wars - I was lecturing on the subject at the
front of the SW stand at one pt, and Charlotte found a boxed Mace Windu
figure....
On to Gosh, where Patric discovered there was a comic series entitled
"Magus" and decided he must make all issues of it his ..... I found some SW
Graphic Novels, and Charlotte completed her Manga SW collection.
Can't remember the name of the next place, but it weren't that good.
Comics Showcase next. Can't remember much about that.
Then Orc's nest, by which time I was starting to get tired .... Patric got
his AD&D Skills & Powers book, Jenny got a pile of D6, and the rest of us
eyed up the Clarecraft Discworld minatures .....
Then Murder One - which appealed to Ali who'd been looking for a good book
shop all day (Ali - try walking from Leicester Square Tube north up Charring
Cross Road to Totenham Court Road Tube - you'll find a few there :-) )
Finally back to Waterloo where it emerged that most of our party didn't know
about the shortcut back to the BR bit from the south end of the Northern
Line Platform.
There Asan relieved me of my responsibility and took them on to pages bar
....
A good time was had by all I think, thanks to those who came. I encourage
you to share your spending record - for the record I spent 1.50 on a 2nd
hand copy of "A Canticle for Liebenitz", 2:20 on Crimson Empire II #1, &
14.95 on 2 SW Books. Oh and a fiver in BK, and 79p on insulating tape in
Tandy.
We will be doing the Westminster Sci Fi Mart on 28/11 details closer the
time .....
Has anyone got a scan of the New Oxford Street/Charing Cross Road area map
that I could mark the shops locations on and stick on the site ?
I'm off to watch Godzilla: Ghidorah the 3 Headed Monster and have a good
resr
