Hi,
We're planning on having a grand IFIS film day on November 21st. It'll be in
the Main Lecture Theatre and we'll probably start at about 3:00pm, running
till about 11:00pm. I'll post an exact time when we know it. I'll be trying
to collect together an obscene quantity of audio / video equipment so it
should be fun. As usual it'll be free to IFIS members although you must be a
member to attend. Tell your friends to come and join on the day.
We'll be showing four films throughout the day. I don't expect everyone to
stay all day, feel free to come and go as you want. We'll work out a proper
schedule so you can turn up for the films you want to see:
1. John Carpenters' They Live
A classic story of one man's discovery of global conspiracy and
alien infiltration. Look for the 10 minute wrestling scene in the middle.
Bring your own gum and sunglasses.
2. The Crow
A classic story of one man's revenge against nasty baddies. Dark,
stylish, violent. Nuff said.
3. Dark City
A classic story of one man's fight against the strange controllers
of the strange city he inhabits. Strange.
We've decided to have a vote for the fourth film. I want something a bit
more actiony than the other three so I've come up with the following:
Conspiracy Theory
Dusk Till Dawn
Fifth Element
Lost in Space
Robocop: Directors Cut - "Excessivley Violent shots cut from the theatrical
release to avoid an X rating."
Starship Troopers
I realise that some of these may have been shown already but I'm not sure
when so I stuck them down anyway. If you can think of any more that would be
suitable let me know or post to the chat list.
If people want to vote for the fourth film, drop me a mail listing your top
two choices ASAP. Chris Lyth is poised to knock out some posters so we need
to finalise the details quickly. Mail myself (richard@), Chris
Lyth or Chris White with any questions, suggestions or general abuse.
Regards,
Richard
