Heya all,
Okie, just to prove that those long-winded forms that you filled in at
freshers fayre/film nights have some purpose apart from being paper
planes/scrap paper/emergency loo roll,

glasses has at last been shattered.
Nope, apparantly, the majority of us spend our days studying ickle bits of
rock, plotting the economic downfall of small countries, and firing pretty
ickle atoms at each other.

Seems like quite a lot of you are fans of slasher movies :)

Some of these films are coming up in November, like Scream 2 and Deep
Impact. Films like Lost in Space should be out by next term.

A sizable majority have threatened to feed my squidgy bits to Rabid
gerbils if we ever show Titanic, so don't expect to see that anytime
soon.(!!!)

Well over a third of our membership consists of women.

So basically, we're mainly scientists who love slasher movies, and ones
where lots of things get blown up, and also show a healthy interest in
Star Trek, Sex, and Dead Sheep....

Random browsing has led me to the discovery that RHC was host to the first
annual Xena convention last year. Ok, so I'm 11 months out of date, but it was
news to me.

Another con, I would suggest :-). I'm still not quite sure if con goers are

Yes, I know. :-) We have a great resourse with the college- just need to get
them impressed enough with us to best negotiate a deal. As the con will be
in term time, our ability to book up places is going to be limited this
year. In 2001, I expect to have this a bit slicker, and maybe we can run
killercon2001 into the holidays.

I agree, I think we should ask the college to inform us of any relevant
events going on. Do you think the student union has any way of finding
out? Otherwise the best thing is to probably ask the room booking
people, as they might deal with things like that...
Again ask the room bookings people on the ground floor of founders,
they probably know all about it...

Sales and Marketing should be the people to talk to about outside
conventions and events happening at Royal Holloway, since, by definition,
they're there to market the campus :o)

Don't think the student union would be of much help, since they deal with
all student based events on campus, rather than external events like special
lectures, events and conventions.
