ST:TNG Comments:
Read anything by Peter David, and any of the Giant novels. Vendetta was
done 2 years pre to I, Borg and has a similar theme in one of it's plot
threads. It's intresting watching the evoloution of the characters through
the books that were being written as the series was produced - 1-4 a S1, 5-9
S2 etc. I think the the thing on the cover of book 1 is meant to be the
Enterprise's StarDrive section but it looks more like the Battlestar
Galatica. Most of the covers are excelent Kevin Birdsong paintings ....
Don't get me going on the subject of Jeri Taylor and TNG:S5.
ST:Classic Comments
I believe that Spock must Die is the first original piece of ST Fiction.
Vonda N McIntyre's Movie adaptations add considerably to the films and are
IMHO better !
Anything by either Diane Duane or Peter Morwood is Fabulous. The story is
they had a massive falling out with thew publishers of the ST books cos they
kept bringing in all these alien characters onto the enterprise crew (S'K'lk
the Hamalki, and Naraht the Horta) and didn't write any Trek for years....
I've found them hanging out in Alt.Fan.Pratchett recently.
The Pandora principle is the only Trek book the Author wrote, the only book
with Saavik in it and is fabulous.
Although the Rift is set during the "A" 's voyage the UK edition for some
inexplicable reason shows the characters wearing their classic series
uniforms
SW Comments
I can not forgive Kevin J Anderson for what he did in Dark Sabre ! That
character was the first ROTJ toy I bought in the shops !
