Suggested film nights. Opinions anyone?
Heya all,
Ok, a couple of possible film nights have been suggested by society
members.
X-FILES night, where we show something like Patient X for those who have
not seen it.
SCI-FI cartoon night, with X-files simpsons etc
The Princess Bride, a film being heavily plugged by nick waterman.
The Star Wars Trilogy, complete with LOUD sound system.
Are there any films which freshers would like me to show this year or in
the spring term, which they *really really* want?
All suggestions are welcome
Cheers
Asan

How about a night of :-
- manga
- conan the barbarian (mustn't forget that we're about SciFi _AND_ fantasy).
- generic swords & sorcery.
- star trek films.

That's not fair! Several other people... In fact almost everyone who's
seen it before... have also reccommended it. Some examples that spring
to mind:
Chris Turner
Adam Hattrell (In fact several of "the bob")
Simon Banks, I think
Andrew Palmer?
I think it was Adam who said that it was "IN-CON-CIIIIEEEEVABLE" that
we could elect a comittee who had never seen it!

You could always show The legend of Orion, the cartoon star wars
rip off.
The Princess Bride, a film being heavily plugged by nick waterman.
It is rather good and people should watch it if they haven't seen it.

Dunno about, *really really*, and I'm not exactly a fresher, but if your
doing a theme night, we could probably make available enough
Hong Kong movies to make a night of it. A Chineese Ghost story
is good, I've recently picked up The Seventh Curse which is fun,
and I'm sure we could find a third - Saviour of the Soul, or perhaps
a Jackie Chan - Armour of God II ain't bad....
Would depend on the interest really.
Laters,

How about The Hidden Fortress or The Seven Samurai (sp?),
IFIS should
certainly show them at some point!

How about an Evil Dead Trilogy night? I have copies of all three. (though
my copy of part two isn't great). What do you think?

Hi there!
Talking 'bout favourite movies we'd reeeeally like to see: I still love the
Indiana Jones movies and I think they fit into the sc-fi genre.
Any other fans out there?

We could show the Indiana Jones Trilogy, if we have enough people
interested but I'd rather just see the third one "The Last Crusade" some
time, as I have not seen it in ages. I don't think the chairman wants to
show it but buy him a drink down the Ascot on Thursday and he may come
round. If that fails just kick him a few times until he pleads for mercy!

Seen it so many times the jokes have worn thin. Still has it's moments
though.

i think the best time to see this film is after a few pints.
Then I wouldn't mine seeing it. I can also get hold of the video if
you really want to see it.

Well, personnally i think this film is really a shame for real sci - fi
fans. You can't take it seriously but it is too stupid to be considered a
parody. Sorry, that's my opinion...I don't think you can enjoy that movie
even if you had 4 pints of beer !

When I said a few pints I meant about six, and I think after six pints you
are going to enjoy the film. The problem is
IFIS shows films first then goes
down the pub so unless we each bring along a six pack there is no point in
showing it.
At the moment we have bigger and better films to show that will be more
attractive to a wider audience, at the moment Titanic is probably ahead of
Spaceballs and I don't want to show Titanic.

Now is that a challenge or what? I can't see a more compelling recommendation...
